Good Christian girl, my butt.

Scene: Service is over, and everyone is trickling out of the brand, spanking new - unfinished - church building. People stop to chat to their friends, so it really is just a trickle. As soon as you leave the building, however, the hot, muggy air of Hong Kong hits you full on. Groups of people walk into you, as they don't expect anyone to be leaving a building with scaffolding all over it on a Sunday. You are sandwiched between a family and a group of friends who are going the same way as you. Somewhere up front, two women decide to stop in the middle of the pavement, causing a mashup at the back. You stop in time to not walk into the family, but the friends behind you, who were chatting, walk right into you.

Fucking hell, you think. And then, instantaneous remorse. It's Sunday. You've just left church. You're not supposed to be swearing at people in your head.

You continue to follow the family in front of you, walking around the two idiotic women who'd stopped. The family move to the left to queue up at the bus stop, walking into the path of oncoming tourists, who move to their left, that is, right in front of you, to avoid. The tourists' numerous shopping bags hit you, several times over.

Fucking hell, you think again. And again, instantaneous remorse. And this time, you (kind of) remember the verse you read a few days ago about David offering up his thoughts to God, putting them on the altar, wanting them to be pure.

And then you laugh. Because despite going to church and letting God and reading the Bible and blah blah, you're still a sucky human.

God bless me.
